Since 2018, the Association of German Engineers (VDI) has been organizing the chemPLANT competition for process engineering students. The aim of the competition is to design innovative and sustainable solutions for specific tasks, which are provided by a consortium of industrial companies. Applications for the competition can be submitted annually until April. The brief is also published in mid-April. The final results must be submitted by July. Successful participants have the chance of making it to the final, which usually takes place as part of a scientific conference, as well as receiving attractive prize money.

The ICVT is happy to supervise groups of students who would like to take part in the competition. The results can then be recognized as group work in the Master VT/CIW. For more information see VDI. Click here for the article of the 2020 winning team.
