The direct link between sun and hydrogen
As part of the "SunH2" project, the consortium partners have successfully coupled an alkaline electrolysis stack with a photovoltaic system.
Producing hydrogen directly from solar power without additional storage or processing steps – that is the goal of the collaborative project “SUN2H2,” funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), which has been underway since the beginning of this year and is being carried out by researchers from the Research Center for Energy Storage Technologies and WEW GmbH in Dortmund. The project partners have now successfully coupled an alkaline laboratory cell stack with a photovoltaic system. The system has been running stably for over a month, even under fluctuating weather conditions.
Further information on the interim results of the project can be found in the corresponding press release from the BMFTR.
